Belle Fourche is a ranching town at the northern edge of the Black Hills, and the geographic center of all fifty states lies in open country about 20 miles north. The town marks it with a monument and visitor center beside the river, so you can stand at the center of the country without driving out into a pasture. The Black Hills Roundup rodeo has been held here every summer for more than a century.
