If you run an independent business with fifteen employees or fewer in the Black Hills, Badlands or Devils Tower area, we would like it on this guide. There is no cost.
What this is
Rapid City Tourism is a visitor guide to this region. The whole point of it is the independent places — the family motels, the kitchens that have been in the same hands for thirty years, the caves and shops and outfitters run by the people who own them.
Who we list
Genuinely small businesses. In practice that means:
- Fifteen employees or fewer. This is the one we hold to hardest.
- Independently owned — not a chain, not a franchise, not part of a national group.
- In the Black Hills, Badlands or Devils Tower area.
The fifteen-employee line means we leave off some genuinely wonderful family-owned places in the Hills that simply got big. That is not a judgement on them. This guide exists to put a spotlight where there isn't one already, and the places that need it are the small ones.
What it costs
Nothing, and nothing for at least the first year. We are not selling advertising, there is no listing fee, and there is nothing to sign up for.
Being straight with you about the future: if this grows, a small yearly subscription may eventually be needed to cover hosting and upkeep. If that day comes we will ask you, and you can say no and stay listed for as long as we can carry it. We will never put an automatic bill in front of a business that agreed to something free.
What we need from you
- Your business name, town and website
- Your opening hours, or your season if you are seasonal
- Two or three sentences about the place, in your own words
- A photo you are happy with, if you have one

Who is behind this
Rapid City Tourism is published by My XO Adventures, a family-run tour company based in Rapid City, South Dakota. We run tours out here ourselves, our guests ask us constantly where to eat and where to stay, and we got tired of the answer being a chain hotel on the interstate. That is the whole reason this exists.
Being listed does not require you to work with us, book through us, or send us anything. It is a listing on a guide.
Changing or removing a listing
Email us and we will change it or take it down the same week. No forms and no notice period.
