Who publishes it
Rapid City Tourism is published by My XO Adventures, a family-run tour company based in Rapid City, South Dakota.
We are not a tourism board or a chamber of commerce, and we are not pretending to be. We are a small tour company that spends every day driving people around this region, and this guide is the answer to the questions our guests ask us in the van.
How businesses get on it
We invite them, and they say yes. Listings are free and always have been. Nobody pays for placement, and no listing is an advertisement.
We only list independently owned businesses with fifteen employees or fewer. Chains and franchises are left off deliberately, including franchises run by a local family. So are the larger family-owned landmarks — some of the best-loved places in the Hills are not on here, and that is on purpose. They already have the signs on the interstate. This guide is for the ones that do not.
Our own listing
My XO Adventures appears in the tours section of the directory. We think it would be worse to hide it than to be straightforward that the publisher is also a listed business.
