Sundance, WY
The Wyoming town that gave the Sundance Kid his name.
Sundance is the seat of Crook County, Wyoming, and it's where a young Harry Longabaugh spent time in jail in the 1880s, which is how he came to be called the Sundance Kid. Sundance Mountain rises over town, and Devils Tower is about half an hour to the north. It's an easy stop on I-90 between Spearfish and Gillette.
About an hour and 15 minutes from Rapid City by car.
